About Laura M. Keels
Laura was inspired to become a nurse practitioner after doing volunteer health work in Latin America. That meaningful experience led to the career she has loved for more than 15 years. Today, she is a compassionate provider and a natural at building rapport with her patients and their families. “I want my patients to feel listened to,” she says, “and to know that I’m working with them as a team to promote their health and well-being.”
With a solid background in family practice and women’s health, Laura is well versed in disease management and prevention, and in performing procedures such as joint injections, contraceptive procedures and dermatological procedures. She enjoys educating patients about their treatment options, advocating for them, and empowering them to be active participants in their care. Above all, she says, “I value my interactions with every patient.”
Laura completed her undergraduate education at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md., and the University of California, Davis. She earned her master’s degree in nursing at the University of California, San Francisco, where she also completed her internship.
A native Californian, she has lived in Washington since 2017. She enjoys the outdoors, staying active, and exploring new places with her two daughters. Latin culture and South American travel remain close to her heart.
